SEPIA PEACE

"She walks in beauty, like the night

Of cloudless climes and starry skies;

And all that's best of dark and bright

Meet in her aspect and her eyes:

Thus mellow'd to that tender light

Which heaven to gaudy day denies.

One shade the more, one ray the less,

Had half impair'd the nameless grace

Which waves in every raven tress,

Or softly lightens o'er her face;

Where thoughts serenely sweet express

How pure, how dear their dwelling place.

And on that cheek, and o'er that brow,

So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,

The smiles that win, the tints that glow,

But tell of days in goodness spent,

A mind at peace with all below,

A heart whose love is innocent!

In spite of being 100% subjective, mother & photographer, I am bold enough to claim Lord Byron’s poem for this pic.

    I featured my daughter this week too, on Ruby Tuesday. I too am 100% unbiased. LOL

  11. what a beautiful photograph, and I can see it is a wintry springday when it was taken, am I right?

    Beautiful poem, just right, so right.

    As mothers we are 100% unbiased, and 100% subjective.

    Sepia has a way of making me feel nostalgic.

  12. Dear Lidj,
    always nice hearing from you. I'll visit in the morning. Now it's bedtime for me..
    Just wanted to say that the picture was taken less than a week ago. The background is the sprouting branches of my beloved Clematis.

    You must think me some big hen mom publishing all those pictures of my daughter.
    She is of course the apple of my eye.
    She also has had a very low self esteem, for no good reason at all.
    It has improved lately, but I just never can stop showing what a wonderful, valuable a person she is, inside as well as good looking.

  21. Dear Debbie,
    It's a long way from Phoenix to Norway, but somehow we were at each others blogs at the same time.
    What are the chances for that??

  23. You are quite right claiming Lord Byron's poem for this sepia pic of your lovely daughter, Serina. They are perfect together.

    I read over at Terry's that you've had company and have been too busy to post a Ruby Tuesday. Spring time has a way of getting a person away from the pc and out in the land of the living. Enjoy your change of scenery.

    Hugs,
