RUBY TRAVELING DREAMS

Summertime is travel season....

It used to be when we were working and our daughter lived at home....
Now we are free to enjoy the wonderful Norwegian blond summer nights and have our daughter home for holidays.
When the days are growing shorter and colder and Serina has left for college, then we can prolong the summer in Southern Europe.
Originated by MaryT, check hers for today.

  2. The baggage claim on the old suitcase is a classic! The romance of the seas lost out to the time-saving efficiency of the jets crossing the Atlantic. I'm too young to have made the crossing in a ship, opting for Lufthansa instead...

The S.S. United States is still berthed in Philadelphia. This ship was the fastest across the pond, the shortest trip taking three days and nine hours (I think). Someday a fun cruise in the Caribbean will acclimate me to sea travels!

  3. Hi, Ralph,
The suitcase is for America travelers from the fifties, I presume.
I remember standing on the quay,
waving goodbye to my first cousin Jan Magne, as he went off to emigrate to the USA. I was 5 and he was 6. He died two years ago. I never saw him again. We kept in contact with the family, though.
That lost feeling of a final goodbye, the music playing National hymns, people embracing and crying, roses thrown from the ship down to the quay, the rope we weren't allowed to cross, my two aunts who did it anyway..
    Some lasting memory.

I think I prefer the Caribbean.
Or New Castle as is my usual annual week-end cruise.

Lovely - has the charm of the old time travelers with all the stickers - so romantic and adventurous. My suitcases look so boring comparing to this one!

  6. Wonderful Ruby Tuesday post!
That's a well used suitcase. I like old suitcases and trunks with stickers from different places. I don't see that very much anymore.
    I love ro travel too.

  9. I really like these shots. I like the angles, the graphics of the tags, the old patina of the suitcase.
The worn suitcase with its tags leave room for our imagination to carry us to places far and unknown.

I like these large size images. :)

  16. are symbols of relaxation and exploration and geting away from it all.

May you all enjoy your holidays together.

In India also people travel quite a lot during the summer holidays as schools are closed in May and June.
But its difficult to travel in heat too.

  17. What wonderful photos, especially that first one! A dear musician friend of mine wrote a song where she wonders about all the stories and places an abandoned old suitcase has been.

There is swimming with dolphins in Israel, in Eilat. My son wants to do it but you need to be at least 10 years old so he needs to wait a bit longer.
