I am such a slow learner.For 18 years I've had these wonderful poppies in my garden, and been thrilled when they showed up every early June.
In magazines I saw pictures of elegant poppy stalks in long, slender vases and so wanted to decorate our living room the same way.
My poppies collapsed after only a few hours indoors.
Until I this year got the idea to pick a few buds for my vases. They slowly unfolded and made our life an ornamental thrill for days.
If I only had sought instructions earlier.....

Listen to instructions? Why does that seem to be my final resort so often! And all the while, the beautiful red poppy just waited to bless your home. I haven't seen a red poppy for a long time and this one is gorgeous. The poppy was the state flower of Califonia where I grew up. I think the state flower in Texas could be weeds! Actually, it's the bluebonnet and they really are beautiful!

Even slightly wilted, a poppy is a lovely ruby that we love to view. Color can be captured at all stages, so this remains very beautiful. Next year, a vase will be used for multiple red flowers - lovely!

In a fresh newly bloomed state or singing a swan song I always enjoy what beauty there is to see in each stage of growth.

when i saw your pretty poppies here, i didn't notice any limpness..i just thought of this heart touching poem that a war physisian wrote before he joined the battle with his comrades..
