BLOOD ON THE TRUNKS

Our pines are violently bleeding.
Favorite writer/composer/singer Bob Dylan is visiting Norway this month.
We are going to attend his concert.
Among Dylan's three best albums is "Blood on the tracks.
Our souls and our garden has been mutilated lately. By a trespassing treetrunk murderer.
Psalm 4:4
Be angry, and do not sin.
Meditate within your heart on your bed,
and
be still.
Originated by MaryT, check hers for today.

Is the tree bleeding a natural and normal phenomenon? It is impressive.
A lot of red on your blog.

Felisol said...

The tree is bleeding because our neighbor indeed was trespassing and sawing branches off almost into the
trunk. As it is spring and the sap has risen, the tree is bleeding resin.

EG CameraGirl said...

How sad. I hope the tree wasn't butchered too badly!

Felisol said...

But they were, all nine of them.
See picture 2.

Mojo said...

Well... the good news is that the sap will harden and keep the disease out of the wounds. What on earth compelled such behavior?

And are all Norwegian dogs not fans of fireworks, or just yours? Tonka doesn't seem the least bit fazed by them. I had him with me for the last two displays I went to and he didn't even appear to be paying attention to them. But I've had other dogs that would growl, bark and just generally raise Cain even over the little ones you could buy in the stores!

Somebody is chopping off branches just like that, Felisol? that's terrible! I have a neighbor who does just that to my other neighbor's pine trees that grow over his fence... :( It isn't a happy Ruby Tuesday for you except to visit Bob Dylan's concert - enjoy! :)

Leora said...

That is an incredibly bright color on the tree. I never would have expected it.

Enjoy the concert.

I was curious, and I looked up the Psalm. I believe it's actually Psalm 4:5:
Tremble, and sin not; commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah

Felisol said...

Mojo;
Our n had been allowed to remove the branches over at his side of the borderline. As you will see, the red van being at our n's, he's chopped half the trees. The green house in the background being ours.

The vets are handing out valium an mass at New Years Eve for the dogs. We don't even have one, but several of our friends have.
It's a mixed experience partying upstairs, while the best friend is howling down under.

Felisol said...

Dear teach Mary,
I'm a sucker for sympathy these days.
If the n just had cut the branches over the wall, it would have perfectly all right.
He hired a forest man with a cannibalistic saw and actually ruined the trees.
That's something different.
We'll just have to hope some survive.

Oh, Leora,
we are online when it comes to the psalms.
My Norwegian Bible, translated from Hebrew and Greek (old and new t)
says the same in verse four, translated word by word.
I've looked up the New King James translation and this is how it goes there.
I guess our Scriptures are the right ones.
I actually find it comforting that one is allowed to be angry.
And I'm thankful that firearms are forbidden in Norway. I would have used mine the other day, I fear.

I love Bob Dylan and his music. Have a great time at the concert. Gosh, those red trunks are amazing. How awful that someone did that.

Eaton Bennett aka Berenice Albrecht said...

Dear Felisol, What horrible butchery on your beautiful pines. I think this savagery has a lot to do with the sign of the times...people filled with such anger that they do not know what to do with it.

Your sap or resin from your Pines is the most amazing color. In Australia the resin is a honey color, not the color of blood. I too am relieved the bible says "be angry but sin not...". It allows us a freedom to express those things that are wrongs against us and humanity.

Blessings to you my friend.

Eaton.

The trees (on our property or not) must not be vandalized. The trees seem to exist for our viewing pleasure, one less tree to look at is just wrong!

I like the Dylan song "Tangled Up in Blue", it is excellent. Somewhere in our house, I have that album in black vinyl, I just don't know where...

Felisol said...

Oh, I am in commenting mood today,
Dear Debbie,
Among artists, there is Bob Dylan and after him all the others.
In two weeks we are crossing the country to join the concert.
Forth time around.

Dear Eaton,
I think you are right, you know.
This man has major problems not with career, not with money, but with self esteem.
He must dominate.
I beg the Lord take good care of him. I for sure cannot.

Dear Ralph,
"Tangled up in blue", is a favorite of Gunnar's.
If I am not all wrong it's from the album "Blood on the tracks".
You better find that vinyl record. They are collectibles nowadays.
You are of course right about the trees.

Dear Felisol, What a sad Ruby Tuesday for you!
I am glad that you put this good Psalm in here because I need it too.
You would not have used a firearm. You would not have to because those neighbors will pay for this..just you wait and see!
Do you remember what Mom and Dad went through almost two years ago and all the shame that was heaped upon their heads and there was nothing that we could do about it and about the unfair bill they had to pay?
Well guess what ?
Last week somebody from the third floor of the apartment building called the health board and the health board, after inspecting that floor, demanded a thorough clean up and guess who has to foot the whole bill? Not the tenants!
Grampa Yade says I shouldn't be laughing but laughing and happy I am. Not only have my parents been vindicated but the landlady is eating crow and paying for it to boot!
My I really do need that Psalm Felisol. I really do!
I never even knew it was in there. You are a true expert when it comes to the Psalms.
I think that God will save those trees Felisol. After all He is the One that created them in the first place,eh?.........Love Terry

PS There is such hope in Mojo's comment. Maybe that sap will heal
the trees...That would be so nice!

I am so glad that you will see your hero again!
Will the Princess be going with you again?

These are great red shots. The tree is very interesting. Oh no I am reading your comment about your neighbor. I hope he didn't harm the tree beyond repair...I hope it will live.

It is a very interesting and wonderful shot though!!

Sure wish I was going to Dylan's concert with you - he is a favorite!

Felisol said...

Hello Sajia,
We all hope for the trees to survive.
I know what you and your family are going through these days, and in that perspective trees are minor problems. But they are our trees just outside our kitchen window, so we care anyhow.

Bob Dylan has strong bonds to Canada.
The Band, or the Hawks as they first were called, was a Canadian band who played with him in his and their best years.
Your brother has also played with him..that's magic!

We are so looking forward to the event.

Dear Terry,
I love the psalms. Those are pearly words. Like the big pearls in a wounded shell, the psalms are written to express all kind of deep feelings a human can have in relation to God.

Leora is right there is a difference between the original Hebrew text and the King James Edition. I actually commented it to Gunnar as I wrote yesterday.
I guess the English Bible is retranslated from latin.
Nuances in the language may get lost this way.
Being the daughter of my fundamental Pentecost parents, I am brought up to relate to the original text. The Pentecost pastors love to recite the originals. Now I do not read Hebrew. Guess I might ask Leora if there is an English translation from Hebrew.

About your parents - and may be me as well,-I've heard my father read this psalm many a time.

Psalm 73 (King James Version)

Psalm 73

1Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart.

2But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped.

3For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

4For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm.

5They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men.

6Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment.

7Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish.

8They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily.

9They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.

10Therefore his people return hither: and waters of a full cup are wrung out to them.

11And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High?

12Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches.

13Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency.

14For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning.

15If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I should offend against the generation of thy children.

16When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me;

17Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end.

18Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction.

Guess we better let God handle our problems. He sure has done it all before, successfully.

Serina has got a ticket for the Bob Dylan concert, but is not sure whether she can come due to the studies.
It will be our first Dylan concert without her.
There is a time for everything.

I am happy for your mother. Hope she and dad Golden take time to celebrate.

Love from Felisol

Sad but nice photos. I say, "plant more trees." Have a Ruby Tuesday and enjoy the concert.

Felisol said...

Dear Shinade,
we hope the trees will survive. If the weather stays not to cold and not too moist, maybe they will.
Thanks for your concern.

Hi, Carletta,
Truth is; we have many friendly neighbors, it's just this one who're making problems.
Dylan is our ultimate #1.

Hi, Dora,
in spring the sap raise in all trees to bring nutrition to new growth.
When a branch is cut, the sap running out instead.
Worst time of the year to cut branches.

Hi, Ivon,
we'll have to plant something.
Question is what.
I will enjoy the concert, that's for sure.

All nine of them??? How awful. What a horrible neighbor. Is there anything you can do to stop him?

Have a wonderful time at the show - I used to go see Dylan all the time when I lived in the States. Sadly, the 80's were not his best decade though...

Trees are ALIVE! How can your neighbour make this unthinkable thing ?
What a picture, Felisol. Maybe, it's usual to see such thing, but I haven't watched a trunk in that state before.

Enjoy the Great Bob !

What a dramatic photo and how sad about the trees! Sorry that you have been having such a rough time. Please always feel free to write to me for reiki and do write to Dennis Puffett. He's SO good and he loves doing healing.

I enjoyed scrolling down and catching up and seeing your wonderful photos. Those brances are such a lovely idea and I love the photo of them on the table in the snow.

Anyway, let me know if you would like some reiki.

I certainly hope your tree will recover from this vandalism! I participated in Ruby Tuesday but didn't have time to visit until today so I'm trying to catch up.
Hugs and blessings,

Hi,

I couldn't find your email address for some reason, so... I have finally done some reiki on you from 10:45 pm - 11:45 my time (very early your time... you are probably sleeping). Hope it helps.

Jim said...

Wow, Felisol! Yes, they almost did murder your poor tree. I hope you can get them repaired correctly to save the trees.

How are your eyes doing now? That was bad news. You are too young to be blind. Within 10 or 15 years I will be blind if I follow the male pattern on my Dad's side of the family. If I live that long.

We have been in North Louisiana visiting Mrs. Jim's sister's family. Adi and Katrin came also. Tomorrow night we will be back in our own bed. I have to get back to tend the blogs (mine and all my friends').

have expressed your bleeding heart through your photos Felisol.

So sorry to see this.
Hope when summer comes around the trees might heal and stop oozing sap.

Before the Indian festival holi ( Mar 11) people come around and chop off trees from properties and also roadside without any permission. It is a nuisance here.

Enjoy the Bob Dylan concert. I know you like him. The only song I am familiar with is Blowing in the Wind.

Good morning Felisol.
Hope everything is going well with you.
I hope that the trees will be improving and that the birds will be building their nests.
It is coming up March break here for the kids and every year about this time the maple trees are giving up their sap and the farms will be making maple syrup.
The children really enjoy going out to these farms and watching the making of the syrup and eating sausage and pancakes loaded with the sweet liquid.
The weather is finally in the 50's so hopefully it will be a good two weeks!
Take care Felisol and keep looking forward to seeing your hero singer...Love Terry

I pray you and your trees will heal (hugs). My theory about 'global warming' is mainly due to the de-forestation of the rain forests. How do people think the earth will produce and filter our air we breath??

Hi Felisol, I'm back after being in Guam for five days. I enjoyed Guam, but was so sad to read about what happened to your pine trees. My heart wept with you, and could almost feel the pain of the trees, so eager to burst back to life after the winter months! I do love Boy Dylan too, like you. I know the trees will recover, may they do so beautifully, with a story to tell. In heaven you will have good neighbors who will not mutilate your trees... Hoping your eyes will fully recover too. Thanks for visiting my post "In My Father's House", and thank you for your comment, too.

Final comments on this post.
Hello, Robin,
Yepp, our nine trees were mutilated. Gunnar bought some trunk wound ointment to treat them. Hopefully he did succeed.
I also know a lot of you have been praying for the trees. I have faith in that. "Poems are made by you and me, but only God can make a tree," Terry wrote.
Dylan, even when he's not at his best, is better that most.
I think he's overdue for the Nobel Prize of Literature.
Only problem is the eighteenth in the Nobel Literature Council are
snobs of a criminal dimension. Even our Henrik Ibsen was not good enough for them.
Problem is; he was too good.

Hi, Catherine,
well spoken; trees are alive and serve many purposes. Amonst other lost of singing birds are nesting there in summer.

Dear Terry,
you are my special encourager. The Psalms; I've read them so many times, lines just pop up in my head when in need.
Just like the time Baby Serina lay in bed asking," how far away is God?" "The Lord is thy shadow by thy right hand" (psalm 121)immediately was there as an answer.
The psalms give me joy, hope, comfort, wisdom, food for my soul, a map for my mind.

Hi, Arlene,
I too like red vans. This particular belonged to the treewrecker. Our house is the green behind the trees.
I'm looking for pix of our old red Dodge. Some sunny day they will turn up.

Dear Raven,
you are the sweetest. Offering me Reiki when I was flat on my back.
I did get more energy, was even out hiking two days in a row. That's a record for this year.
I'll write you, as I will write more of my visitors.
I have been kind of good exhausted lately.
You know the feeling when tension let go, and relaxing is the best thing in the world.

Hi, Storyteller,
nice of you to come around.
Good thought and good wishes are welcomed anytime!

Dear Jim,
my eyes are better, not itching and aching lie before. Sight has become poorer though, I am impatiently waiting to se a specialist again.

The prognosis for you are depressing. If it is this yellow spot thing, there's a lot they can do to help just these last years.
I'll keep you in my prayers (as before9. Honestly I can't imagine life as a blind. It must be quite a challenge. How did your dear ones cope?
My mother is always encouraging me to do things "While I can".
Earlier on, she would often say, "save your money for a rainy day." Not anymore.
She too has experienced that there is a time for everything.
She's enjoying her days in physical freedom now.
Never experienced her being more social.

Dear Amrita,
thanks for showing compassion.
If you've experienced it you know how it feels. You'll find lots and lots of Bob Dylan on YouTube whenever you have time.
He's the most influential Writer/composer of the 20th century, and he has not stopped make exceptional stuff yet.

Dear Jada,
you bet I was angry. Now I'm more sad and disappointed in human behavior.

Dear Mrs. Mac,
Agreed. Destroying of the rain forest has a major impact on global warming.
Old Martin Luther, (not being without major flaws,) said, "If I knew I was going to die tomorrow, I would plant a tree today."
I guess that's an attitude for me to copy.

Dear Crown of Beauty.
How nice that you have had this trip. You sure need lots and lots of good experiences to cherry you up.
Best thing is knowing that you are loved and not alone, even if you must feel terrible sad at times.

Your photo of the pine reminds me that on my Grandfather's farm stood vast forests of pine trees. Every year turpentine workers came through to slash the bark to bleed the sap to make naval stores. This process went on for years and, although unsightly, it never killed the trees. God make 'em hardy.
