FIVE LITTLE WORDS

1. HERITAGE
2. SEA

3. TRAVELS

4. FRIENDSHIP

5. LOVE

Trish has sent me a five words challenge.
Actually I was the one, thinking it might be fun to play along, reading Trish's 5 word post. Guess I knew at once what to write. Worst job was searching out the pictures to go with the words.

1. HERITAGE
I am rich.
Not in money, power or fame, but in spiritual heritage.

My parents gave me a spiritual foundation and a spiritual home. Not through so many words, but through their lives.Saying grace before meals, praying together every evening of my childhood, going to Sunday school, lots of hymns singing, my dad reading the Bible as a daily routine, also asking all kinds of tricky questions (the name of Zelofad's daughters? Higla, Milka, Tirsa). Indeed, knowing that I could always place all my needs and burdens in every aspect of my life on the almighty Lord; that's what have formed the essence of my world. What a mighty heritage!
2. SEA
I'm "dwelling by the uttermost parts of the sea".
Just 5 minutes walk to meet the mightiest and
most wonderful elements of the earth.I'm getting renewed by walking along the sea in all kinds of weather any season and any time of the day.
The song of the waves will overwhelm any
negative thought or trouble of my mind. Collecting seashells, stones and driftwood is a challenge to my creative side, as is also photographing. The summer is not complete if I haven't had a salt bath.
9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
10 Even there would Thy hand lead me, and Thy right hand would hold me.
3. TRAVELS
We have named our home pages The Exodus/Ulysses years ago.

That about states the importance of traveling in my life too. When, lately, my health has made me stay much at home, even small trips inspire and renew me.
I don't travel to relax or escape life. I travel to live and broaden my horizons.

4. FRIENDSHIP
Friends are the family we choose.
Unlike family they don't necessarily stay that close or that long in our lives.
I've always found that bond strengthened through sharing tears and laughter remain the longest.
This year I've been blessed with reconnecting with long lost friends both from my childhood and youth.
I've seldom felt richer.
I've also made precious new friends through my blog-life.
They have broadened my horizon, made me feel richer, wiser and happier.
Indeed the kind of friends making durable footprints in my heart.

I shot an arrow into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For, so swiftly it flew,
the sight
Could not follow it in its flight.

I breathed a song into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For who has sight so keen and
strong,
That it can follow the flight of song?
Long, long afterward, in an oak
I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from
beginning to end,
I found again in the heart of
a friend.

H W Longfellow

5. Love

1 Corinthians 13

Love
1If I speak in the tonguesa]">[a] of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames,b]">[b] but have not love, I gain nothing.

4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. 11When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. 12Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Beautiful post Felisol. All the five words translated into photos, memories, sharing thoughts and poems. You played along very well.

Gunnar 's photo is a super....portrait.
I remember that Longfellow poem so well.

Oh wow. My Pastor 's daughter is named Milka, never knew it was from the Bible.

Family Bible readings are indeed special times.

Really enjoyed all of it.

I read that Bob Dylan is releasing a new Christmas album.

That 'love' of yours, Gunner, has a face worthy of oils & canvas or to be chiseled in stone. Did you, Felisol, take that pic of him? Lovely if a guy can be called lovely :) You are rich beyond what words can measure. Your heritage of family/friends and spiritual matters has given you a strong foundation. It's been wonderful making your acquaintance.

Thank you, both of you.
The pictures I use in my blog are made by me, unless I am on the pictures , or have credited otherwise.

dearest felisol...i came here to read your ruby tuesday post last night and i saw this post...oh i have thought about it all day and in my mind's eye i pictured your godly dad with his worn bible.
now i have come to read it over and over again and now i must comment!

felisol...little did i know that when i found you two years ago that you were such a gold mine and your sharing of your precious parents has been such a blessing to me.
it is easy to see the influence that they have had in your life and how you have become such a good woman, a good wife and good mother and a good friend..to so many people, visible friends and invisible ones alike.
mom golden gave us the spiritual grounding and even though dad golden isn't a christian[YET!], he taught us the value of work...working hard at a job and doing your best! although he was in the air force and put in hours a day, still he had two or three jobs on the side to look after his large family....moving jobs. janitor jobs and dry cleaning jobs...any job that he could...we are a large family and i must admit that there isn't a lazy one in the whole bunch, thanks to dad golden's example!
felisol..i never did see this picture of dad ljung with his bible.
you must of put it in before, but this is the first time i saw it,
such a beautiful picture!

as you know felisol...i have always had such a fear of large bodies of water but i am really thinking by all of your lovely photos and your telling of your love of the ocean, i am beginning to lose some of that fear!

of course you realize felisol that i love to travel out west to my beloved manitoba....but who knows maybe one of these days bernie and me shall travel to the far side of the sea to meet you and gunnar and princess serina and mom ljung and your hiking buddies...and then take a straight trip to visit amrita, in india and then lastly to see crown of beauty in the philippines, eh?
hey but we shall all be meeting when we take that trip to heaven,eh?

i can only tell you once again dearest felisol...that you are my bestest friend.
how rich i am!!!!!!

love.

this is by far the best part of this post felisol..
ph who has better told us what love really is better than the lord himself through the writings of paul the apostle! both the love chapter and the verses in timothy!

2 Chronicles 15:12
"And they entered into a covenant to seek the LORD God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul;"

1 Corinthians 2:9
"But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him."

what a perfectly stunning picture of gunnar and you are so pretty in your ruby red dress and this is such a precious picture of two dear friends!

this is such a beautiful post and i think that i am going to treat myself again and read it and look at all of the pictures created by you and even the ones that aren't your own making!.....love terry

I loved this one Felisol. Such words of wisdom about your 5 words. I was also given this challenge from another blogger and my words are different. But I hope to do half as well as you did with your words.

I loved reading about how your father really was the spiritual head of your family. Such a rich heritage that is! So much more valuable than worldly wealth that doesn't last.

I too love the sea. How wonderful that you are so close and can walk and be reinvigorated by that closeness. I miss the ocean as I now live far from it. But I grew up very close to it on Long Island and love to visit when I can.

Your friendships are beautiful as you are a good friend. YOu speak the truth in love and I'm so fortunate to have met you through our blogging.

Your Gunnar looks like such a kind man. I'm so glad that you have his love in your life.

Bless you my friend. And thank you for all of your wisdom, words and kindness each time you visit me at Heart Choices.

Love you,
Debbie
