RUBY ART

Art for art's sake.
I just love art exhibitions.
Especially the weird ones.
Make me want to try create something by myself.

Like robbing my brother's single collection...
The bold use of colors was what caught my attention this time.
That and my love for bizarre hats.
Another result of being raised in a Pentecostal Church in the 50ies.

Originated by MaryT, check hers for today

I like the whimsy of this kind of art. It reminds me to NOT take myself too seriously and to relax a bit. :)

Now that is a wild one! What fun... a far cry from Michelangelo, and that's the great thing about art... it includes something for everyone! :)

I remember the 45RPM records of my youth, having purchased and listened to many of them a long time ago. Generation later don't have the memory of these vinyl treasures. Maybe this artist doesn't either. But the art, 'weird' if you think, is still different. Unique art indeed!

Records? Do I see phonograph records in that photo? Oh, I remember...

SEEING RED

Tonight, my dear, I’m seeing red—
Or is it puce or rose?
Whatever’s going round my head
Is tingling all my toes.

My heart, my dear, becomes inflamed
With passion sore ablaze;
Perhaps it is because I miss
Your glowing, crimson gaze.

Whate’er the cause, my face is flushed
Like a ripened cherry,
No longer healthy, but inflamed—
See the vessels serry*?

A certain sanguine aftertaste
Is clinging to my tongue,
For I have kissed your ruby lips—
To which the claret clung.

*serry – (archaic) to crowd closely together

ha felisol...mom golden has a whole closet full of sunday go to meeting hats! dad golden makes fun of her and laughs whenever she buys another one...sometimes she buys one at the second hand stores and with her ribbons and bows and her magic fingers, she turns it into a real work of art!
i myself have very few hats..i liked it in the olden days when ladies would wear a nice hat whenever they walked down town.
it used to be really hard to buy nice hats in canada and then we were blessed with lovely lady diana and her fine hats, and voila!
ladies pretty hats were born again.
i guess there were many many hat factories that were built in england and jobs were created when that angel was given to us!
this art picture is just choice felisol and i am thinking how good those ruby shoes would go with it!
take care dearest!...love terry

ps felisol...that dad golden keeps asking me to ask norway what the union carbide in norway makes...you see after he was a fireman in the air force, he worked for union carbide here in welland for many years...it has closed its doors of course and moved to the states but dad golden still has an interest in it so can you tell me what they make?...

Hi Felisol,

You set a record with this post!

last month my daughter in law opened a new art gallery here in Jacksonville. There are some photos of her work on her blog at http://www.elemental.name/ .

On the first Wednesday of each month hundreds of local artists feature their work in downtown parks as part of the city's "Art Walk Night". Huge crowds attend these events. Ginny and I sometimes go downtown to watch all the strange costumes--they are more interesting than the art!

EG Wow,
I agree, a smile or even a good laugh are as necessary for the human beings as any other feeling.
Ode to Joy.

Sonja,
Exactly what art is to me and my wide interests, something for every mood.

Ralph,
Vinyl is in again, it's the CD which is dying.
So they say.
I have even collected my old cassette recordings. Gunnar converted them into mp3 files for me just after Christmas.
Great fun and happy reunion.

Old Geezer,
I found you at last!

Ann,
I really don't know if it even was a man. I always pictured it as a female.
Maybe an androgen one.

Kramer,
good word.
I feel renewed after a visit on an art exhibition.
Tried to pay you a visit. Didn't make it.

Magical Mystical Teacher,
Thanks for sharing your beautiful poem.
It is highly appreciated.

Dear Amrita,
The Old Vicarage at Jæren always has interesting exhibitions. We always visit when we down south at my mother's birthplace.
I'm so sorry for you, that you do not get so much out and around. The (wo)man needs roses not only bread.
Lots of interesting places on the Internet too.
Have you looked up the Norwegian painter Edvard Much?

Dear Terry,
I have seen some of your mother's hats. They were great.
Like you, I had and have a love for princess Diana.
I laughed at her wedding and cried in her funeral.
One could see how she loved and tried to protect her two darling boys.
When prince Harry gave his mother's engagement ring to his future wife; that gesture spoke volumes.

Dear John c,
Thank you for your nice words.
I've visited your daughter in law's gallery. Lots of great art there. I am particularly impressed by her glass work.
Hope Amrita will pay a visit there too.
It might inspire her.

Dear Robin,
In the days of my childhood the Pentecost Church members were kind of Bibel fundamentalists.
Women were not allowed to cut their hair, and they were supposed to cover their heads when in church, for the sake of the angels, Paul said. Neither were they allowed to wear jewelry or make up.
I found that hard to accept. Especially since the men were not under similar restrictions.
Times has been changing rapidly for the last forty years.
Women need not use all their fantasy to
figure out elegant hats to wear in order to cover their heads, at least not in the Pentecost church.
I think focus has become more how to be an honest follower, take care of the young ones (that actually always was their strength), and also be true to the important sides of the gospel.

I so wish you had had someone around to help you 23 years ago too. I deeply believe that the overwhelming majority of the times that mothers are unable to succeed at breastfeeding are because they did not receive the support they needed and very much deserved and were not given the knowledge they were entitled to to make it work! Breaks my heart to think of how much needless pain and suffering these mamas and babies go through through no fault of their own.

Dear Robin,
Thanks for your sweet concern and for your important work.
I must say I had my Mamma by my side, She took most of the housework and made casseroles of oatmeal soup.
That just wasn't enough, but I'd never managed even a month without the loving help from her.

Great thing was, we were six woman in the same infirmary, who all gave birth by Cesarean, and all had mothers waiting to help us when we came home.

I just missed one with your special skills.
