RUBY EPIPHANY

January 6th is the feast of The holy Three Kings or The Three Wise Men, Twelfth Night. I love the story about the faith and incredible stubbornness of these mighty men; who, led by a star, were wandering from the ends of the earth, to search and worship a poor Jewish baby boy,our Jesus, born in a stable.

The figurines in my Nativity Scene
are from left a German wooden Weihnachts Mann, an oriental souvenir, bought on a flee market, made of fabric and leather, and the newest addition, a china figurine from Villeroy & Boch with a place for incense in the middle.Like the Weihnachts Mann, he is a gift from my German friend Christa. We met in 1970 and have been exchanging Christmas gifts since then.
May faith and friends be our leading stars in this new year.

That is precious, that your friend and you share gifts. Makes the scene more special.

Also my emotional molecules speeded up when I computed 40 years of exchanging gifts with your friend. The REAL gift is of course--your friendship. How BEAUTIFUL!!

I love the Wise-Guys story!

I like the idea of creating the Nativity scene with objects from various sources. It makes your scene totally unique.

All the best in 2011!

We were taught that they were kings but they were actually astrologers, reading the signs of the sky...that was why they saw the star :) they arrived to their destination when Jesus was 2 years-old...

I sometimes hate myself for ruining one's idea of something...sorry about that- but I these are really beautiful pieces.

A spiritual matter indeed! You and a friend, exchanging gifts each year.

It sounds God-like. My Higher Power seeks my friendship...gives me gifts, and I humbly try to give Him something in return.

Key words...Giving, Loving!

Love your wise men. Our wise men are making their way across the livingroom to arrive on the 6th at the manger.

Very interesting! Here in Saipan it is a local custom to send 'round a baby-Jesus "doll" on Christmas Day, the Sunday after, New Years morning and on the Sunday after called "Three Kings" day. They put the baby Jesus "doll" (statue I guess is a better word) in a small cradle made of wood....then a caravan goes house to house in cars...you can hear them coming because they blow their horns and play loud Christmas Carols....when they come to your home you are supposed to open the door and "welcome" the baby Jesus inside....it's a local Catholic custom...

Your decoration is in sync with the Feast Day. Its good to keep th e tradition s alive so that the truths and stories are passed on from one generation to the next.

God instituted the feasts and festivals in th e Old Testament for this purpose.

Felisol, is Silk Kitty still at your house? :)

Felisol said...

Dear Maria, Funny you should ask.She had a male courter going for days here. December 30th he managed to lure her away, but today she returned, sweet and loving as before.
We were all thrilled.
I guess she has finally adopted us, and that we may become grandparents in not too long.
Since we have not succeed in finding her first home,we'll have to get her sterilized afterwards.
She still is the loveliest Silk Kitty, but she is due to a visit at the beauty parlor, to trim the knots away from her fur.
We'll just have to see and enjoy her sweet presence.

That's beautiful Felisol. I have to say that this Christmas season in particular, I developed a real love for the wise men. I'm not sure where it came from but it is a lovely gift.

God bless my friend. I'll still be visiting here even though I'm temporarily out of action.:)

Love Colleen

Hi Felisol, hope you are doing good.

This feast is not very wellknown in India but its a good day to adore the Lord in the spirit of the wise men who travelled a great distance to see the child and offer Him gifts and along with that protected him from the evil intentions of king Herod.

Your decorations are very attractive and bright.

I tried commenting on this post earlier but something went wrong. Glad I could do it now
