RUBY GUITARS

Ars longa vita brevis.
I took about 20 pictures with manual camera handling.
Sunlight, overexposure, sharpness, oh,my!

I ended up with this fragment of my forty years old guitar and her sharp comrade.

I look at you all see the love there thats sleeping
While my guitar gently weeps
I look at the floor and I see it needs sweeping
Still my guitar gently weeps
I dont know why nobody told you how to unfold your love
I dont know how someone controlled you
They bought and sold you.

I look at the world and I notice its turning
While my guitar gently weeps
With every mistake we must surely be learning
Still my guitar gently weeps
I dont know how you were diverted
You were perverted too
I dont know how you were inverted
No one alerted you.

I look at you all see the love there thats sleeping
While my guitar gently weeps
Look at you all . . .
Still my guitar gently weeps.
George Harrison.
Originated by MaryT, check hers for today.

The finish, all polished with lovely red detailing, does not seem 'old'. These are a classic style that goes not age. As good looking as they are, the magic is in the music, the chords and the resonance of the acoustic body.

George was a superb guitar player, and his twelve strings were played so well. And his songs were overshadowed by by John and Paul. But his songs ('As my Guitar Gently Weeps', 'Here comes the Sun', Taxman) stand up very well these days...

Felisol,
I love your picture. And I love the song of the Beatles that you posted with it.

Another Beatle's song I like is Norwegian Wood.

I joined RUby Tuesday too for this week. Lots of pictures. Too many I think.

Love
Lidj

Judging form your comment on my RT post, I'm guessing you didn't get what you were seeing in your mind? Whether you did or not, you still got a wonderful composition; one that makes you look a second and third time at the image because the angle takes the third dimension out of the guitar in the front making it look like only the soundboard is lying against the one in back. Very compelling!

If what you were looking for was both instruments in sharp focus my suggestion would be to use a smaller aperture (f/16 would be a good place to start) to increase the depth of field. At that aperture, your shutter speed will probably have to be pretty slow, so you'll want a tripod or some other stable support for the camera.

But you've got nothing to be unhappy about in the image as it is. And don't worry that it took 20 shots to get it. I've taken 100 or more to get the one I wanted in some cases. Sometimes that's just what it takes. (And yes, I have been doing this for years. And I'm still learning all the time.)

I love the gentle curve of a guitar and the touch of color at the center. You got this just right Elise.

Now I'm humming the song too! Wonderful shot!

Such warm wood, I can almost hear the gentle weeping of the guitars.

To answer your most recent question, the ground cable in the photo is from my welder. When arc welding, the ground cable is attached to one of the pieces to be welded and the "hot" cable, which holds a flux-coated rod is held in close proximity to the surfaces to be fused together. Current jumps (arcs) across the gap between the welding rod and the joint creating an arc hot enough to fuse the two pieces of metal. The flux on the rod helps to clean off any oxidation on the work and the steel "core" of the rod merges with the weld pool to fill gaps.

So if I'd actually been welding this piece of pipe to something the ground cable would be necessary to complete the circuit that creates the arc. But in this case, all it was for was a photo. I needed a shot for the theme "Grounded" and this was the first thing I thought of. The welder was never even turned on.

Gorgeous guitar. I love to hear one played well.

I know the frustration of having the perfect shot pictured in my head but not caught by my camera. But hey! After 20 tries you got it!-)

you know what?
this 40 year old guitar is just saturated with music.
grampa yade says the older a guitar or a violin is the more that the wood contains hidden music...so many trapped notes in there!
just lovely felisol!
i think that is what robin and marie are hearing felisol......love terry

The photo has texture, color and feeling.

My old guitar like George Harrison 's lies weeping.

I like its smooth shiny surface and biting strings.

Its tones can evoke both sadness and joy.

Play away Felisol

Fantastic photo. And what a great song. Signature George Harrison. Speaking of music, I posted some old Bob Dylan on my blog The Pagan Sphinx. There are a few interesting comments there from my friend Susan.

Happy RT on Wednesday!

Peace and love,
Gina

Hi Felisol, I will follow up on that fellow's comment about my yellow plants being mustard.

So how are you being philosophical now?
And I don't think I knew of Lautrec until about a year ago. I really am a sow's ear, you know.
