RUBY FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT

November 29th and we are celebrating the first Sunday in Advent.
In summer we have blond nights,in Advent time both dusk and dawn are dark blue.
The seven lights are shining from window candlesticks all over Norway, in private as well as public buildings. It's pure magic how young and old, rich and poor, businessmen, military, seamen in ferries and passenger boats, police, hospitals, all, choose to place these lights of waiting and expectation wherever they stay.
Some wants to make us believe that faith and hope are dead, that Christmas is just good for business. The advent sticks tell otherwise.

Originated by MaryT, check hers for today.

Advent is a season of wonder, of waiting for the arrival of the Lord. You are right, we live in such a secular society and this season seems to be shunned. But all believers understand the giving nature of God, and that a savior is a wonderful gift we have received. The candles show bright, the sacred light from above. Happy Advent!

What a beautiful post, Felisol.

I love the lights of the Christmas season. They do brighten up the short hours of daylight at this time of year.
Our pastor lit the first candle on the Advent wreath Sunday.

Advent is a beautiful time. I love December because of the anticipation of Jesus' birth, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and because it's my birthday and my daughter's birthday soon afterward.
She was born on my birthday. ;-)

aw felisol..christmas and easter!
the two times of the year that even the atheist must surely see the proof that there is a god above and a saviour for them..theirs for the taking if only they would!
these candles shining all over norway are such a good testimony.
by the sounds of it, a person can't turn any way without seeing them!

1. All things bright and beautiful,
All creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful,
The Lord God made them all.

2. Each little flower that opens,
Each little bird that sings,
He made their glowing colours,
He made their tiny wings.
All things bright ...

3. The rich man in his castle,
The poor man at his gate,
God made them, high or lowly,
And order'd their estate.
All things bright ...

4. The purple headed mountain,
The river running by,
The sunset and the morning,
That brightens up the sky;−
All things bright ...

5. The cold wind in the winter,
The pleasant summer sun,
The ripe fruits in the garden,−
He made them every one:
All things bright ...

6. The tall trees in the greenwood,
The meadows where we play,
The rushes by the water,
We gather every day;−
All things bright ...

7. He gave us eyes to see them,
And lips that we might tell,
How great is God Almighty,
Who has made all things well.
All things bright ...

This picture brought tears to my eyes. For the beauty of hope that it depicts. Such a lovely picture against the blue sky.

The pictures of the seven candles, and the four candles of advent that you shared are truly beautiful. More than what my physical eyes can see, my spiritual eyes see something deeper.

My heart reaches out to you this first week of Advent, my dear Norwegian sister, Elise!

Love
Lidj
