MY MOTHER'S GARDEN

This smiling lad is lying at the end of my mother's garden. To make a lawn on their half acre of land, my parents shoveled each foot by hand. The stones were driven to the boarders of the lawn to make a fence or a "yard" my mother would say.
One summer the two of us built a fireplace of stones. My dad did not trust our constructing skills. This fireplace will be down within next spring, he claimed. Well, my stubborn mother has smuggled some concrete in between the stones these 45 years. Each summer we make at least one pot of coffee and some hot dogs there.
(Wo)man's victory against nature.

This is totally charming. Truly you and your mom are getting the last laugh with the laughing lad.

How precious! I somehow think you and your mom are quite like each other. Strong women, soft hearts.

Thank you for your gift of encouragement. It means so much to me. I love the Scripture reminders too.

I wrote today about my Grandpa Sumstad and the godly legacy he left.

Blessings and love,
Debbie

good for you felisol...this woman's face reminds me of a poem that i loved in my younger days.

"It took the sea a thousand years,
A thousand years to trace
The granite features of this cliff,
In crag and scarp and base.

It took the sea an hour one night,
An hour of storm to place
The sculpture of these granite seams
Upon a woman's face.

although felisol, it DOES appear that this lady has the smallest smile and a little twinkle in her eyes, knowing that you and mom ljung have accomplished such a feat of preserving her these many years!
three cheers for the three of you!
yummy..hot dogs sounds like a good idea!..ha!..love terry

Kudos to your Mom and you for that reliable fireplace.

I am sure your Dad was pleased with your handiwork and enjoyed cooking on it.

The sculpture is very cute.
