Garden fall, the last rose of Norway

Last Tuesday Gunnar, Amidala and I had probably the last great garden day of this year. We worked until the dark fell on and we couldn't see what we were doing. The next day more rain and chill made us stay indoors, but the joy of yesterday still lingered on. So did the hideous pains in my right wrist.

I love roses, but the love is mostly unilateral. Even so, I keep planting new ones. Red ones only, and late this fall some slow growers finally rewarded my efforts.
Hidden among a big hydrangea shrub a tiny red little fellow
assured me that my love was not in vain.

Amidala thrives when we are working outdoors. She especially finds joy in the tranquillity in the afternoons, and chase the odd mouse now and then. She also invites her friends to come over for a "happy meal", but when her folks are outdoors, she's busy guarding her territory.
The leaves of the blood beech in late afternoon sun. They are a sight for soar eyes. They just grow without any cravings at all, and know how to die in beauty.

Amidala most is taking part in the procedure of planting spring bulbs. That is; I am planting, and she's digging them up to control if the work is properly done.
She's such a lovely, Godgiven creature. I dedicate this Dylan song to her.

Do you love me,
Or are you just extending good will?
Do you need me me half as bad as you say,
Or are you just feeling guilt?
I've been burned before and I know the score
So you won't hear me complain.
will I be able to count on you,
Or is your love in vain?

Are you so fast that you cannot see
That I must have solitude?
When I am in the darkness,
Why do you intrude?
Do you know my world,
Do you know my kind,
Or must I explain?
Will you let me be myself,
Or is your love in vain?

Well, I've been to the mountain,
And I've been in the wind,
I've been in and out of happiness,
I have dined with kings,
I've been offered wings
And I've never been too impressed.

Alright,
I'll take a chance,
I will fall in love with you.
If I am a fool,
You can have the night,
You can have the morning too.

Can you cook and sew,
Make flowers grow?
Do you understand my pain?
Are you willing to risk it all,
or is your love in vain?

Can you cook and sew,
Make flowers grow?
Do you understand my pain?
Are you willing to risk it all,
or is your love in vain?

We all hope the cold and damp weather do not mean much pain...The kitty is territorial by nature, so prowls (guards?) the land making all is in order. She doesn't have to dig to do her job, but who can explain that to a feline? Pretty reds are all about, maybe not for much longer - but each day they live is another day to admire God's beauty a little bit more!

Love the hydrangea against the red paned window.

We already have some snow, but I have some parsley seedlings to plant somewhere in my yard this fall. Maybe it will be warm enough tomorrow, and I will ignore my computer long enough to dig in the soil.

Hi Felisol,

I envy your garden. It looks so serene and lovely. All your hard work shows.

Here in the South, there's an old expression, "We worked from can to can't".

It means we worked from first light when you can see till after dark when you can't see.

Your opening lines reminded me of that old expression.

Oh my you have to say goodbye to those ravishing roses and flowers. It will make you impatient for spring and summer.

Now as our cool months are approaching we will have lovely colors in our garden. Just the opposite - as the summer heat dries them up.

I have made a post about the most expensive train in India. I am sure you will like travelling on it - Gunnar and Serina too

Loved all the pictures you shared on this post! Amidala is such a sweetheart. Read the previous post as well.

Must admit this feline has captured my heart. How in the world did she find out about that tiny opening? Simply amazing, cats!

At one time, during my growing up years, we had fifteen. A few of them slept with me - really clean, and well bred creatures... yes, cats are.

When my children were little, we had Siamese cats, delightful silky creatures with blue eyes!

Your post "Spring begins in the fall" is so true.

Hope your wrist heals in no time at all.

Much love
Lidia

Dear Elise,

Amidala is such a sweet and a most excellent guard kitty. I'm sure her quality control is very, ahem, helpful.

Hugs,

Felisol:

I still remember how shocked I was to see the beautiful flowers way up in Tromso. It seems such a 'northern' land, but the colors were amazing. Your rose is perfect! Gardens are such a blessing, especially when we can tend to them ourselves. It does take a toll on the hands and knees though. :)

Hi Felisol ~~ You guys worked hard on that garden. It is rather large isn't it. And pretty. I love that 'last rose'.

I read your story of how Amidala came to you and be named by Serina. She is a pretty cat. Are you worried at all about other animals coming into your house via that barely opened window?

I like the Dylan song. I am not sure I know it but perhaps if sung I would recognize the tune, just never listened to the words. :)

When Mrs. Jim 'came along' I was not looking for another wife. Our story fits his story very nicely. Now we have been married for 38 years.

Dear Jim,
The beautiful Dylan Song "Is your love in vain?" is from the album "Blood on the tracks" released in 1975. This must be about 2 years after you and Mrs. Jim became one.
The album is mainly about Dylan's heartbreaking divorce, but ends with this optimistic tune.
I recommend you take some time listening. Is sure is worth the while.
Dylan has as always put his emotion on display on this album, but he was really annoyed when people said the loved it.«A lot of people tell me they enjoy that album. It's hard for me to relate to that. I mean, it, you know, people enjoying the type of pain, you know?» he said.

I'd post the YouTube link if I could, only Sony will not let Norwegians see Dylan for free.
That is so petty.
Anyway nice having you back, birthday child.

Love the song! I love roses, too. Mine were sadly neglected this year since my broken ankles didn't allow me to tend them properly. Hopefully next year will be better.
