Ruby ship in the sunset

This ship is waiting for order to go out to serve oil rigs in the North Sea. She belongs to a local ship owner. Since we are so strategically well located, all kinds of ship industry have been thriving here for a thousand years and even longer.
Fishing boats, merchant ships, supply boats, ferries, shipyards, you name it, we've got it.
I haven't even got a row boat, so the "we" is referring to the town and the island.

The narrow strait situated
almost literally outside our house door is probably the origin to the name of our country; North-way, i.e. Norway. It's the only safe sailing to ships heading north.

This is a lovely picture of the sky, the water, the ship, and that little island jutting out in the background.

I can imagine just how beautiful everything is, that body of water is just a step away from your windows. Do the storms ever pass your way to created big waves that reach your windows?

Have a wonderful Ruby Tuesday day!

Much love
Lidia

Dear Lidia,
We actually have to walk four minutes to go down to the sea, and that encourages us to get up and out, especially by sun down time.
Our house is white splattered with salt after the storms coming in from the west every spring.
(In wintertime I do not go out to look.)
Well, this is how I like to live, one has to embrace the good with the not so good.
The air is fresh and clean, that's for sure!

What a beautiful sight, Elise, and all part of your front yard. The golden reflection of the sun on the yellow bridge, the brilliant red contrasting with the blue of the water, and the purity of the white lighthouse set against the gently glowing hues of the sunset clouds - it doesn't get much better.

I love the way the land frames the photo .. in a curve. Your air must be very clean living so close to the sea. Thanks for little history lesson about the North Way :)

What a wonderful picture. You are keeping my Norway dream alive every time you post one of these. :) I can just picture you in my mind, where you live, and all the abundance of my Norway roots. We are Norwegian sisters, joined by our birth heritage and our salvation grace. In case you haven't noticed... ha ha... GRACE is my new favorite word, always has been, but now more than ever!!

I've missed you and am so glad to be ctching up today.

The ship is impressive, its huge flanks big enough to carry lots of petro product into port. The many harbors and fjords are inviting to all watercraft, be it a canoe to a tanker, the many boats and ships will need a safe harbor many times, Norway kindly gives all the shelter they need...

when we used to live by the welland canal, and i would see the big ships go by on their way to the great lakes, i always felt such a fear.
i just can't imagine how i would feel as they made their way to the great oceans..i always worry about and pray that they will have a safe journey but is still feel the fear...
last year when i was planning on seeing you and gunnar and serina, i was really wishing that you would teach me not to be afraid of your sea....love terry

I live so far away from the sea that the sight of the ocean and ships tug my heart. I' d love to sail on a big ship like this one.

Trust all is going well with you.

A cousin sister took me out for lunch today, so we had a nice afternoon , otherwise its so hot above 40*

My home in Jacksonville, Florida, lies close to the ocean and the huge St Johns River runs right through the middle of downtown. So ships of all sorts are a common, and always beautiful, sight.
