DECEMBER FOURTH

Advent is time for workshops. At schools, the scouts, kindergartens, retirements homes anyone who can hold a tube of glue and a piece of paper will be engaged.
My Mom used to invite the neighbor kids for Advent workshops, making paper baskets and long multicolored chains.
I always had a wonderful time at work in December, setting out the oddest projects.
With Serina and her friends I have had the best Advent workshops ever.

Now the also seems to be past tense.
The hiker ladies are on the same wavelength also when it comes to playing. Last Tuesday we made a rather quick walk, no stops, and then back to Liv's home for some snacks.

Afterward time for the real thing; transforming birch branches to outdoor nisses.
Needless to say we went home uplifted and proud with our pair of nisse.

I love your table with the tablecloth and beautiful dishes. Everything looks so lovely! Those little dolls (nisses) are too cute. It's great to hear that you celebrate the Advent. Another candle this Sunday.

Dear Debbie,
pictures are shot in Hikerpal Liv's home.
We only see a little except from her great nisse collection.
She sure know how to decorate.

What another wonderful custom. I agree with Jim yesterday when he said that we in USA have forgotten those things. Love those nisses!

At least we are having an Advent Bible study at church beginning today, looking at the Gospel accounts of the nativity.

You are so fortunate to have such friends! The nisses are charming and what fun you must have had making them ... each one with a distinct character face. We used to do stuff like this when my kids were younger ... but, alas, I think our American society is OVERLOADED with too many meaningless consumer driven time wasters that we can't see the the blessings staring us in the face.

You have inspired me to choose one tradition from the old days to resurrect.

Very talented group of ladies you have there. You Mum is a leading example i must say.

The nisses are so cute, love their flowing beards - a delight of every child i guess.

thr ladies choir was a joy to listen to, i love thiskind of music. i may not understand the words but the music speaks to me.

Dear Sioux Sue,
It's so very fitting studying the gospel these days.
We are bombarded by so many besserwissers and critics these days.
Best thing to do is study and memorize. Be rooted in Christ, Paul says.

Dear Mrs. Mac,
my friends are my greatest blessing outside my family that is.
We share many good and sad memories, but are always having a good time whatever our imaginations inspire us to do.
Actually I am the only one who is not a grandmom.
Nevertheless we take quality time to be together just us "sisters".

I am glad if I have been of some inspiration.
You are inspiring all the time, you know.

Dear Amrita,
My Mom is special when it comes to crafts. She's a Mom of all trades.

My friends are clever too. They are the best when it comes to playing being like children again,-without loosing dignity.

The nisses were made from birch branches, unwashed sheep's wool and knitted long caps.
Sounds easy, but it took us a couple of hours to make two each.

So glad you like Norwegian Christmas music. The hymns means a lot to me.
