Night of the Moon.

Gunnar has this wonderful gift of comforting. Not so much by words as by acts. Yesterday he was busy repairing the car, due for control. Nevertheless he found time to take me for a spin while testing the brakes. We drove to a top called Stone Mountain and had chocolate buns and coffee while watching the town west of us and the moon over the pine forest in the east.
I did feel a bit homesick. The thought of my mother is always there. Then I remembered this beautiful poem my dad used to quote in German. (I found this translation for you).

Mondnacht (Night Of The Moon)

by Joseph Freiherr Von Eichendorff
Es war, als hätt' der Himmel
Die Erde still geküsst
Dass sie im Blütenschimmer
Von ihm nun träumen müsst

Die Luft ging durch die Felder
Die Ähren wogten sacht
Es rauschten leis die Wälder
So sternklar war die Nacht

Und meine Seele spannte
Weit ihre Flügel aus
Flog durch die stillen Lande
Als flöge sie nach Haus

It was as though the sky
had silently kissed the earth,
so that it now had to dream of sky
in shimmers of flowers.

The air went through the fields,
the corn-ears leaned heavy down
the woods swished softly—
so clear with stars was the night

And my soul stretched
its wings out wide,
flew through the silent lands
as though it were flying home.

You made my soul stretch and fly out with these thoughts and photo. Oh I wish I could send you a plate of hot samosas to cheer you - this is out comfort food.

The moon looks so serene here too, I love watching it, and take a stroll in the garden with Sheeba.

Jesus is watching over mother. Can you speak to her on the phone?

Thank you for your encouraging thoughts on my blog.

The poem hits a chord deep inside. I read it first in Norwegian, not even knowing what all the words were, and then in English. It's beautiful in both languages. There are chapters in our lives that make us dig deep, you are in one.

I'm so glad Gunnar is who he is. He shares your load.

Praying for you Felisol and for your sweet mother, for strength and daily grace. I pray she will sense God's nearness each day, and you too.

Hi Felisol ~~ I pray for you, your mother, and family more than I visit your blog, way more. (Good thing!)

I read down. Your mom's situation is a lot like my dad's was. He had a broken hip at 94 that couldn't be fixed. He had to be either in a wheel chair or bed then for the last three years of his life.

Gunnar is a big help isn't he!
I'm the hugging kind so I were there I would have a big hug for you and Mom. Have to do with this,
((((( BIG HUGS )))))

In all things, underneath are the eternal arms!

But the poem does bring out a yearning note that we al recognise.

Dear friend,
I can feel and relate to your sadness... may you not resist the pain, but just embrace it for this season. Let your tears wash your wounds in your heart. I am praying for you. You have a good husband, God's gift to you, and a good daughter... lovely poem, lovely photo.

Often wish we were neighbors. Then we could have time for quietly sitting side by side, sipping coffee... no words needed. Just the loving presence of a friend who understands and cares.

Love always,
Lidia

i looked at the pictures you posted of your mom and you ... how precious and sweet ... i know how you must ache for the vibrant and active woman your mom once was ... atleast she is blessed with a daughter who loves her and cares ... God sees that ....

lovely pic here too ...

and to answer your question about our hours of daylight in the winter, we aren't as dark as you guys are ... we have about 7.5 hours of light during the darkest day ... which is pretty good ...

blessings on your mom, you and gunnar and serina ...

"dearest felisol, the poem is very lovely but your own words are even more beautiful "We drove to a top called Stone Mountain and had chocolate buns and coffee while watching the town west of us and the moon over the pine forest in the east."
you and your sweet gunnar sitting beside each other with a feast of chocolate buns and coffee and feasting your eyes on god's great beauty of the moon, with probobly no words but sweet silence between you...what a picture and what an awsome feeling!....you two are surely one person and i love you so much....love terry

Such a beautiful poem, it touches the soul.
How the Lord has blessed you with Gunnar, I too have been blessed with the same kind of husband.
I pray for peace and strength as you are going though this difficult time with your Mother. I have been there and understand.
