Second Sunday of Advent

This week we shall be lightening two lights. Two lights for hope and peace.

Advent means Arrival. Maria was the first waiting for the arrival.
How appropriate that she was selected among "The Silent of the Country".

This Mother Mary, made of ivory, was the first gift I gave my husband to be and the coming father of our child .
It's almost as if she becomes alive when I'm trying to make her portrait.

I have met the most wonderful people in blog-land. Barbro taught me how to make my own candles with angel décor. She's such a young and inspiring acquaintance, a creative homemaker with food for body and soul.

There's a mini angel in this photo with a read necklace. can you spot her?

Our Carl Larsson girl is placed under the old fashioned candlestick, patiently waiting for the arrival.

Even the old youle nisse has placed himself in my grandfather's chair.
He's dressed in the sweater my mother knit for me when I was a toddler. Serina also used it for a year, before the old man claimed it.
The nisse is meditating over Christmas Hymns while looking fascinated at the Star of Bethlehem.

I posted this Ruby Tuesday early Monday Morning just to remind you that daughter Serina is facing her first of to oral exams today.
Praying is not cheating, even if my little brother thought so, long time ago.

Lovely photos.

I wish Serina good success on her orals.

Never heard of anyone who thought praying was cheating before.

What a beautiful post. I love the candles and Mary. I'll say a prayer for those oral exams. Not cheating at all.

Best wishes to Serina on her exams. How could prayer be cheating - anyone can pray! :-)

You make beautiful decorations for your holiday - enjoy.

oh felisol..i hope i am not to late in praying for serina!..but i am praying NOW and rely on the verse, Isaiah 65:24
"And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear."
praying certainly is not cheating..ha!..because we KNOW how much serina has been studying and if she hadn't of been, then i guess praying WOULD be cheating!!

beautiful ruby tuesday post felisol...mary and all of those angels..what a blessed person she was by the lord and yet she, too counted the lord jesus as her own personal saviour..
this week at the bible reading, we were reading in john about the angels that were at the tomb where the lord jesus had risen.
mr. surgenor said that if we could see all of the angels that are surrounding us still in these days, that we would probably have a heart attack!!...maybe so eh, my bestest friend..it sure would be a great eye opening event!...love you felisol and praying for the princess..love terry

My only sibling, baby brother, said to my Mom,when attending a chess tournament," I want to win this by myself. Don't pray for me."
He felt that he had an undeserved advantage if my mother prayed. Mothers do pray anyhow, at least that the migraine stay away from my brother ( he won, of course). Serina passed her first exam. One down and the last to go Friday Norwegian time.
Thanks for praying.

Dearest Terry,
I love when we are so in sync when it comes to praying. We get some wonderful answers too.
Kel did win the tournament like he used to do those days.
He just had this huge belief in God, he didn't want to cheat by getting a divine interference for his advantage.
He was and is a fair player.

Beautiful Candlelight Advent Pics !
Mary does look like she has come to life in your portrait. Everything looks so enchanted . The candles with the angels you made are amazing. The little angel with the red necklace, is she made of beads ?
I am too late to pray for your daughter's exams , but I will pray for her anyway. :) I hope she did well.

Christmas in Norway! I am on the same page with you Felisol, writing about my memories through my mother's eyes.

I see I'm catching up here this morning, and so glad to see the Serina has already passed one test. I'm praying with you right now for the next one, that God would bring to her mind clearly all that she has learned and studied, as she takes the next test. I chuckled at your brother asking your mom not to pray, so he could do it on his own.:)

Your home looks so cozy and inviting... shall I stop by for a cup of coffee with you and Gunnar?? :)

Hi Felisol,

Just posted that video you asked about, "Christmas In A Little Tin Box".

Hello Felisol! I am late but- Happy Birthday!!I love your pictures and descriptions! I remember my mother used to put up an advent wreath. I've never done it though. Sometimes I miss those old traditions...and think about doing them here but...I'd be doing them alone. Your photos made me feel nostalgic.

I feel such a sense of peace from your series of pictures. And, of course the annual Youle Nisse is always fun.

Your home looks so cozy with the Advent candles lit. I did spy the little angle with the ruby necklace .. after magnifying the picture twice. I missed the first prayer request on Serina's behalf for her test taking .. will cover her for Friday.
